False Friends

Verse Your Answer Correct/Incorrect
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
(Genesis 2:18)
A help meet is someone who works alongside him to help and complete him. To help him be what God wants him to be. Incorrect
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
(1 Timothy 4:3)
It is certain foods. It’s saying that when they give commandments that are not from God., they’re saying lies and hypocrisies. When you do things contrary to what God has told you, your conscience is seared. Unclear
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
(2 Timothy 2:15)
Study means to meditate on the scripture. To compare scripture with scripture. To make sure that you don’t just take one verse but that you study the whole Counsel of God just like the Bereans. Incorrect
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
(1 Kings 18:21)
It means how long are you going to just bounce back and forth, to waver back and forth? How long will you do your own thing instead of obeying God? Elijah is basically telling them to make up their minds. Incorrect
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
(1 Corinthians 15:19)
He was just saying that if there’s no heaven to follow, there’s no hope for the future and we are really pitiful. We don’t have anything to look forward to past this life on earth. Incorrect
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”
(Proverbs 22:28)
It means to remove a boundary stone or a stone that is set, like landmarks were boundary stones. So it says don’t waver from the things that have been taught according to the word of God. Incorrect
“Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.”
(1 Kings 8:25)
That’s saying keep what you promised David, because if you don’t keep what you promised then how are the children going to keep your commands?
I guess it would be like only if thy children take heed to their way. We use it all the time so I’m trying to word this right. The phrase so that is just like how we would use it. I did that so that I could do this. I guess it’s giving them something to look toward. They’ll see that God means what he says.
Incorrect
“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.”
(Philippians 4:15)
It means no church really sent me anything or gave to me or shared with me concerning giving and receiving. Reached out to me; shared with me. Incorrect
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
(Matthew 13:21)
Quickly, immediately, or when persecution comes he slips or is offended. Correct
“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.”
(John 16:1)
It means to stumble, to trip up, to go off course. I explain it like “off-ended” or “off course”. Correct
