False Friends

Verse Your Answer Correct/Incorrect
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
(Genesis 2:18)
Well, meet is the key word there. The closest synonym I can think of would be suitable or proper. So that notes that God has the proper help for us in the relationship of marriage. Correct
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
(1 Timothy 4:3)
You had the argument of meats offered to idols, so abstaining from meats here would be along those same lines. It was for the sake of honoring God. But this would be a different use of a similar sounding word that you often find in English. So this would be the muscles of an animal. Incorrect
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
(2 Timothy 2:15)
I guess I would define it as being diligent in our pursuit of scriptural knowledge, keeping it in context, being able to define scripture with scripture so we can have complete understanding of the text. Incorrect
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
(1 Kings 18:21)
Stall is how I would define it. Delay or indecisive behavior. Incorrect
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
(1 Corinthians 15:19)
One who has encountered a great degree of misery. So the condition of experiencing misery. Uncomfortable to a great degree; suffering; not good. Incorrect
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”
(Proverbs 22:28)
Well, in the Old Testament, they were given land and in the New Testament we were given the Lord. They were given Canaan, we were given Christ. So to have to landmarks in place – they changed what the Lord had given them. So when a landmark was removed, it changed the boundary. The application is don’t be quick to remove the lines that have been drawn. Incorrect
“Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.”
(1 Kings 8:25)
So is kind of an equal sign, so it carries us from one to the other showing us what the result is. I would call it a transition of expectation. That one is a little more difficult to define in short. I would call it the transition to offer the explanation or the proof of what has just been stated. Incorrect
“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.”
(Philippians 4:15)
I would just have to go with the obvious: Having exchanged information concerning a particular topic. It’s how we would normally use the word communicated. Incorrect
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
(Matthew 13:21)
In the course of time. Incorrect
“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.”
(John 16:1)
I would describe it as being either emotionally or spiritually harmed by an event or circumstance. Incorrect
Totals Correct: 1
Incorrect: 9
