False Friends

Verse Your Answa

Verse Your Answer Correct/Incorrect
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
(Genesis 2:18)
A help meet is an aid, another person to go through the world with you as you live your life. Incorrect
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
(1 Timothy 4:3)
From food. From any type of food. He’s talking to those who would be troubled by those who say there’s certain foods you’re unable to eat. Peter was told there’s nothing unclean and that everything can be eaten if you give thanks for it. Correct
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
(2 Timothy 2:15)
That means reading; searching out the Scripture. It means to be a Berean to see if those things which are said are true. Incorrect
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
(1 Kings 18:21)
To be stuck in between two options, to be double-minded. You can’t serve God and mammon at the same time, because you’ll hate one and love the other, or love one and hate the other. To “halt” is like being in the middle of a rock and a hard place, to be straddling the fence. Incorrect
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
(1 Corinthians 15:19)
That means exactly what miserable is. We’re in a miserable condition, and in that condition there’s no hope. Incorrect
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”
(Proverbs 22:28)
As Israel crossed over into the land of Canaan, as they crossed Jordan, they had what they called Ebenezers. These stones were stacked up so in days and years to come, children would as their parents “what are those for?”. And they were able to give them a historical answer why they were there. We have Baptists who have given their lives for landmarks, freedom of speech, and religion. These are landmarks. It says not to take them away; we shouldn’t destroy them or let them go. Incorrect
“Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.”
(1 Kings 8:25)
David, being a type of Christ, was to mete out laws and directions to the people of Israel to care for them, look out for their good, protect them, and guide them. He was also a prophet. So, these things were written so they would not forget God, and would instead worship and honor God. Sadly, as in the other verses you quoted, they did not listen to him. “So that” is a reason, “So that” they would accomplish what was to be done. Incorrect
“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.”
(Philippians 4:15)
It’s either in written word or speaking face-to-face, that they communicated with the understanding that he was going to be receiving funds or food or clothing or goods of any kind to carry him on his way. Incorrect
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
(Matthew 13:21)
After a while, over a certain time. It could be days, months, or years. Incorrect
“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.”
(John 16:1)
To be taken aback, to be hurt in some way, so that their thoughts and beliefs are not extinguished in some way. Incorrect

er

Correct/Incorrect
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
(Genesis 2:18)
That is a person who is able to be a help in the work. Or a helper who is able to do the work. Correct
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
(1 Timothy 4:3)
Not to eat certain foods or certain things because they are considered not clean or able to be blessed of God. But God has given them the ability to be eaten with thanksgiving. Meat is food in general. Correct
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
(2 Timothy 2:15)
To study would be to look at the Word, read the Word, understand the Word, make sure you’re building line upon line, precept upon precept. It’s the same as any other learning. Learn the Word thoroughly. Incorrect
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
(1 Kings 18:21)
That is holding on to. How long are you going to hold on to two opinions? Incorrect
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
(1 Corinthians 15:19)
Miserable in this context would be one who has put their hope in a false thing and has lived their life in a way they would not have done otherwise, therefore not seeing the joys or pleasures of this world because they’re holding on to the hope of a future world. But if it’s not true, they hold on in vain. Incorrect
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”
(Proverbs 22:28)
That would be a boundary, a line not to be crossed, a set place. In other words, follow the guidance that your fathers have set. Don’t cross the line.
That God would always be with the people and the people would always be with God. That they would not stray from God and the kingdom would not fail to follow God. To cause the kingdom not to fail God. Incorrect
“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.”
(Philippians 4:15)
Sent messages or, in this particular case, he says it’s concerning giving and receiving. So it’s sending whatever Paul needed at that point, things being sent to Paul to Macedonia. Nobody sent him goods but them. Correct
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
(Matthew 13:21)
After a period of time. Incorrect
“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.”
(John 16:1)
That they would not be taken out of the way or taken out of their discipleship and learning. That they not be harmed in this, that they will know the truth. Correct

Incorrect: 6
