False Friends

Verse Your Answer Correct/Incorrect
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
(Genesis 2:18)
Actually, it’s a reference to Eve. A helpmeet is someone that stands beside somebody else and helps them as far as their life, basically. Talking about the spouse. Incorrect
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
(1 Timothy 4:3)
That means to not eat any fleshly animal. So basically in the last days, Paul is saying there will be an uprising of those who believe that man should not be eating meat from animals, which of course is not true. Even our Savior at emat. Incorrect
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
(2 Timothy 2:15)
That would mean to not only read but to apply oneself as you would as far as school or work. In other words, look into the text as it was written to understand the Scripture fully. That’s what God is wanting us to do with his Word. He wants us to study his word. so we have a firm grasp of the meaning so we can rightly divide it. Incorrect
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
(1 Kings 18:21)
That would mean to question or to not be sure or not be convinced. Incorrect
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
(1 Corinthians 15:19)
Miserable would be uncomfortable. It would also have the idea that you’re miserable about the situation you’re in with your faith. “Unsure”, for lack of a better term. When you’re miserable, you’re just uncomfortable. That has to be part of what it’s getting at. Incorrect
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”
(Proverbs 22:28)
To change it or get rid of it altogether. That’s referencing the individual plots of ground in the Old Testament that each person was allotted by family. There were those who wanted to extend their boundary lines and would try to remove that form of marker. We might even say fencing, stones, corner markers, etc. So there were those who were not right with the Lord or their fellow man and would try to extend their own boundary line so they would accrue more land. Incorrect
“Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.”
(1 Kings 8:25)
This has to do with the future heirs of David’s offspring. David was referencing what God had promised him in I Samuel 7. God had promised David that he was going to bless him and establish his throne in Israel forever. God is saying the same thing here. But the key was whether or not his offspring would stay true to the Lord and walk with him. Of course we know that some of his offspring down the line did not really do that. But God was true to his word that because of David’s heart he would always have someone who would occupy the throne. Of course God held true to that through Jesus Christ. Correct
“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.”
(Philippians 4:15)
That not only entails word of mouth or letter, but, when you look up that word, it entails financial remuneration. That’s really the gist. Paul was saying that this church had gone above and beyond other churches. They sent on three occasions some support to the Apostle Paul. We walk by faith but we need money. That spoke very highly of that church Correct
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
(Matthew 13:21)
Over time, through circumstances. Things go on and the Bible says that God’s people are going to suffer some form of persecution. Part of the Christian walk is understanding that it’s not going to be smooth sailing. If a person is not truly born again, he is not going to be able to walk with the Lord and endure in the long run because he’s not truly saved. He’ll walk away which is what the Bible says about the last days. Incorrect
“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.”
(John 16:1)
Well, it’s when a person has received something from someone else in such a way that they don’t take it well. They’re angered over it, which, unfortunately, happens all too often. Jesus is letting them know that whenever they encounter it, they shouldn’t be offended by it, but they needed to understand it’s going to happen. It’s easy for us to get our feelings hurt on occasion, and sometimes we misconstrue thing, but Jesus said this would be part of the Christian walk. Incorrect
