False Friends

A help meet would be anybody that helps you. In this case, it’s going to be a wife. Incorrect
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
(1 Timothy 4:3)
Don’t eat meat like the Catholic church taught; Don’t eat meats on Friday. You’re talking about meats offered to the temple offering in context. But at the same time, you can eat a piece of ham if you want to. You’re going against Old Testament dietary laws. Incorrect
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
(2 Timothy 2:15)
It means to study. You’re going to read it, you’re going to study it. I don’t think you can study without reading. And you need to read it with the objective of having a deep understanding of it. Incorrect
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
(1 Kings 18:21)
In this case it would be a pause. Either a stoppage or a pause. In the military you might say “Halt, who goes there?” Here, it means why are you pondering between two opinions? Make up your mind and get moving! Halting would be a bad thing. Make a decision. Incorrect
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
(1 Corinthians 15:19)
In a bad condition. Out of everybody, if we’re preaching Christ only for this short term life, without heaven, without mansions in heaven as Jesus said, then we are miserable people. We are down and out mentally and physically. Incorrect
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”
(Proverbs 22:28)
In this case it would be the certifications of ownership, no doubt mark out boundaries. Sometimes we nail down stakes, etc. It would be removing the certification of ownership and boundaries. Incorrect
“Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.”
(1 Kings 8:25)
He’s quoting what God promised David. So remember this and use it as proof and motivation so those who come after me will do right before you. In so doing, we have the promise to David that goes all the way down to jesus Christ and the second coming. Incorrect
“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.”
(Philippians 4:15)
They weren’t sending him any money. Correct
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
(Matthew 13:21)
Pretty soon. Sometime in the future. It’s not eternity, and it’s probably not years and years, but it’s some temporary period of time. A reasonably short period of time. It’s vague; it could be within two or three years, but not one hundred or one thousand years. Incorrect
“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.”
(John 16:1)
It’s about being offended either at Jesus or his teachings. He says bad things are going to happen. Don’t let it shake you up, don’t let it worry you or knock you off your stride. Stay faithful. Incorrect
