False Friends
Verse | Your Answer | Correct/Incorrect |
---|---|---|
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” (Genesis 2:18) |
One of the same kind who will aid in the accomplishment of a purpose. | Correct |
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” (1 Timothy 4:3) |
If I remember correctly, he’s referring to the stumbling blocks of eating meat that’s offered to idols. To not be associated with that which would cause a stumbling block in the way of others. I have not done a study on that word. He’s talking about the connection of the individuals going back into Judaism, so he’s just talking about meat; food, beef, meat. |
Incorrect |
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) |
It is to know, to know intimately and thoroughly. | Incorrect |
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.” (1 Kings 18:21) |
Standing idle, not making a decision, not making up your mind, refusing to move in the wrong direction. | Incorrect |
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” (1 Corinthians 15:19) |
Without hope, no change in sight. | Incorrect |
“Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.” (Proverbs 22:28) |
To take away that which has been clearly identified in the past. To move the boundary. | Unclear |
“Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.” (1 Kings 8:25) |
Obviously, God had chosen to make the lineage of David through to Christ. You’re dealing with the split of a nation into Judah and Israel. Israel was doing wrong, the Southern kingdom was dealing with false worship as well, and there was to be a leader, a king who was to instill the law. So there had to be a man after God’s own heart so that the nation wouldn’t go astray as the other nations had. | Incorrect |
“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.” (Philippians 4:15) |
There was no financial support, no meeting of his personal needs. | Correct |
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.” (Matthew 13:21) |
Over the course of time, over a period of time. Throughout the growing circumstance. | Incorrect |
“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.” (John 16:1) |
If I remember correctly, this is just prior to Jesus going to Jerusalem. All of them would be offended; they would walk away from him. He was trying to prepare them so they would not be shaken to the core by what was to take place. | Incorrect |
Totals | Correct: 2 Incorrect: 7 |
