Second-Person Pronouns
Verse | Your Answer | Correct/Incorrect |
---|---|---|
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” (Genesis 2:18) |
Someone that helps meet the needs that is a wife. Side note: that is a woman, not two genders. | Incorrect |
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” (1 Timothy 4:3) |
I don’t know. | I don’t know |
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) |
Paul was writing to Timothy. I believe in context, stuy is rightly dividing the Word of truth, comparing Scripture with Scripture. But it’s really being a good example. Timothy could have been a good example. People saw in his ability to study that he was approved unto God and men. | Incorrect |
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.” (1 Kings 18:21) |
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. They couldn’t make up their mind. Basically, how long are you going to be on the fencepost? When are you going to make up your mind? | Incorrect |
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” (1 Corinthians 15:19) |
He is writing this because they doubted the resurrection of Christ. If all we do is serve God and believe in this life, and we don’t believe in an afterlife, we are most miserable. Your life has no meaning. | Incorrect |
“Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.” (Proverbs 22:28) |
Back in the first five books of the Bible, they made a landmark, an altar, a monument so they could ask their fathers what does this landmark mean. A lot of people want to remove our landmarks. This means don’t remove the landmarks that our Father, God, has set. | Incorrect |
“Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.” (1 Kings 8:25) |
The New Testament has the word “nevertheless” a lot. Solomon was praying; the next phrase explains what comes before. He was calling on God to fulfill that promise. | Incorrect |
“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.” (Philippians 4:15) |
He’s talking to the Philippian church and praising them for their giving and receiving. I believe this whole verse is talking about faith promise. this church was the only church that was giving to him. Communicated could have been through a letter or through someone, but it was a communication that involved monetary assistance. | Correct |
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.” (Matthew 13:21) |
I don’t know. | I don’t know |
“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.” (John 16:1) |
In the previous chapter, he’s talking about not being hated and tells them that a comforter will come. He’s saying don’t get upset when the world persecutes you or don’t drop out of the way. Paul wrote that we can joy in our persecutions and sorrow. This is getting offended and leaving the purpose God has for us. |
