False Friends

Verse Your Answer Correct/Incorrect
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
(Genesis 2:18)
It is one that completes. Man and woman were both made in the image of God, and when they are together, they complete one another. Meet is a help that satisfies, that is sufficient, that supplies. Correct
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
(1 Timothy 4:3)
It would mean to stay away or to hold back, to not eat. The thing that comes to my mind is that there would be people who would ask others not to eat a certain meat on a certain day, like Roman Catholics. Incorrect
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
(2 Timothy 2:15)
Consider, ponder, think, meditate. Incorrect
“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
(1 Kings 18:21)
I would have said stop at one point, but I’ve done some work on that. Halt means to be lame, it means to stumble. Correct
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
(1 Corinthians 15:19)
Miserable is like sad. Incorrect
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”
(Proverbs 22:28)
It means to change out, to enlarge or shorten a field. So you’re moving the place markers for property, etc. It would normal for kids to take out landmarks to enlarge the field to take what is someone else’s. Incorrect
“Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.”
(1 Kings 8:25)
If the people follow David, then the people of God will walk in God’s way. My Bible app pops it up as it’s not a cause and effect. A “”nevertheless”” might have been appropriate there as well. Not so much cause and effect, it’s more like a semi-colon. Two separate statements. Incorrect
“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.”
(Philippians 4:15)
It would mean to talk back and forth, but maybe more specifically dealing with the idea of talking about the offering that has been given. Incorrect
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
(Matthew 13:21)
After a while, after some time passes, eventually. Incorrect
“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.”
(John 16:1)
To be discouraged and hurt. Today I would talk about being offended like I’ve been wronged and would internalize that wrong. We’re coming a step away from bitterness here. Let’s not internalize wrong. Incorrect
Totals Correct: 2
Incorrect: 8
